Revas simulations were the first teaching resource in Poland to receive the American ISTE certificate
As teachers and lecturers, have you ever faced the challenge of choosing an educational tool to use in your class? Have you then asked yourself – is it a good quality product and will it help my students achieve their goals? Is there any objective evidence of the quality of this tool?
Luckily, there are institutions in the EdTech industry that evaluate educational products. Thanks to their work, teachers and lecturers do not have to wonder whether it is worth using business simulations on their course, for example, because they can quickly reach out to the report assessing the effectiveness of a given tool. It helps them make the right decision.
The elite group of ISTE certified tools
At Revas, we do know that it is not enough to tell customers that we think our products are valuable and that they must take our word for it. We want to assure teachers and lecturers that the simulations we offer actually help teach what we have created them for and meet the highest technological standards – Wojciech Pitura, CEO at Revas, explains.
The ISTE certificate is issued by the International Society for Technology in Education. It is an American organization associating over 100,000 educators around the world. The organization is also the author of the so-called ISTE standards, that is 9 criteria by which high-quality technological educational solutions should be characterized. These are the standards that are followed, among others, by American schools when they choose what tools they would like to implement. Every company can submit their products to the certification process and if the process confirms that these products do meet ISTE standards, they receive a certificate of compliance, the so-called Seal of Alignment. So far, only 32 products have received such certification in the category of tools for students. Revas Business Simulation Games are the only tools for learning business and entrepreneurship.
What exactly is the ISTE certification?
In order to be certified, Revas had to demonstrate that attending a course with simulation helps participants develop their skills, competences and talents. For example:
- Standard of the so-called Computational Thinker means players develop and apply problem-solving strategies in a way that uses the power of technological methods to develop and test different solutions. In Revas Business Simulation Games, players in each round face various business problems like lost sales, increasing costs or decreasing employee satisfaction and they must use the available data to find the best solution to the problem, implement it and verify how effective it is.
- In the case of the so-called Knowledge Constructor standard, players use digital tools to construct knowledge and produce meaningful learning experiences. Because business simulations are the closest experience to running a real company, making realistic managerial decisions gives players the opportunity to apply their business knowledge in practice and understand what a manager’s career entails.
- The so-called Global Collaborator, on the other hand, means that players should broaden their perspectives and enrich their learning by collaborating with others and working effectively in teams.

What does the fact that Revas simulations received ISTE certificate mean for current and future customers?
ISTE Seal of Alignment is the second, next to the pedagogical quality certificate of Education Alliance Finland, confirmation that when using business simulations, teachers and lecturers can practically teach business and help young people develop their managerial competences. Participants of courses and lessons with simulations develop in the field of business and entrepreneurship, but also acquire a set of future competences, key to their future career, regardless of the profession they choose.
