Microsoft Flagship School
Complex of General Education Schools No. 8 in Gdynia is an institution that focuses on the sustainable development of students and support for teachers. The school since its founding aimed at creating a space for children and adults in which they can study in various areas. Starting from learning to cook, through coding, entrepreneurship, ending up with emotional development and getting the so-called soft skills. Everything is supported there by the latest solutions, therefore we are extremely happy that we became one of the partners of the school in Gdynia. Thanks to this collaboration, students during business lessons will benefit from Revas Business Simulations Games.
Revas simulations at Microsoft School
The introduction of the simulation to the educational market began with the search for teachers and headmasters open to new solutions. At that time, we held hundreds of meetings, training sessions and workshops for teachers, and also searched in the Internet for people who wanted to change education and who would be open to test our application at school. One of such persons was Oktawia Gorzeńska – the then headmaster of 17 General Education School in Gdynia and a person actively acting in the Internet for the change of education. We called her asking if she would see the possibility of testing the implementation of Revas Business Simulations Games in her school. Her reaction was surprising to us because it was really rapid. Oktawia said of course, because such solutions were very much needed and everyone had to be open to new technologies. And so we started cooperation with 17 General Education School in Gdynia. This year it has been merged with the Complex of General Education Schools No. 8, which is Microsoft’s flagship school. Moreover, the school received the title of Microsoft Showcase School – the most model school in Poland.
Thanks to our cooperation, from September, the students of the Complex of General Education Schools No. 8 in Gdynia have been able to conduct their own businesses in one of 14 industries. They can choose one of the following businesses: travel agency, accounting firm, car repair shop, beauty salon, hairdresser salon, event agency, interactive agency, bearing factory, construction company, restaurant or massage salon.
During the classes, the students will make realistic business decisions in teams. Each decision of the student team will translate into the results of virtual companies that will operate on one market located in the classroom. The entire decision-making process has been planned for 12 rounds, i.e., 12 virtual months of operation. During that time, the students will decide not only about the number of employees, but also about the amount of their remuneration and form of employment, the quality of equipment bought for the company, the choice of suppliers, the amount of marketing budgets to finally determine the price for their services.
Undoubtedly, participation in lessons with the use of Revas Business Simulations Games will translate into better understanding of business processes by the students. Thanks to teamwork, they will now be learning cooperation and responsibility for a jointly created company.
