The Kamienna Góra Commune Office initiated and organized the competition to help primary school students develop an entrepreneurial mindset and experience what running a business actually involves.

Challenge

The Kamienna Góra Commune Office wanted to create something more meaningful than a one-time event or a traditional school knowledge competition.

The goal was to design an initiative that would actively engage students, encourage them to take responsibility, and show them that entrepreneurship can be practical, dynamic, and closely connected to real-life decisions.

The competition also needed to work across several schools and combine the excitement of competition with hands-on learning. Rather than testing students on business theory, the organizers wanted participants to practice collaboration, decision-making, responsibility, and entrepreneurial thinking.

At the same time, the format needed to support teachers by providing a structured educational experience that could be implemented with students from grades 4–8.

Solution

The answer was the Business Championships, a competition built around Revas Industry Business Simulations and designed to combine learning, competition, and play.

Instead of completing tests or answering theoretical questions, students stepped into the role of entrepreneurs and managed their own virtual school shops.

The project was divided into two stages.

First, students took part in workshops led by Revas trainers. They learned how the simulation worked and began building their virtual businesses. They formed teams, divided responsibilities, defined their company’s mission, prepared an offer, and made their first business decisions.

The workshops were followed by a several-week competition. During this stage, teams managed their school shops independently, reviewed their results, discussed what was working, adjusted their strategies, and made new decisions in subsequent rounds.

This format gave students space to experiment. They could try different ideas, see the consequences of their choices, and change their approach without the real-world risk of running an actual company.

For teachers and the local government, the simulation provided a structured way to combine entrepreneurship education with an engaging competition between schools.

Results

The Business Championships succeeded in turning entrepreneurship education into an experience rather than a theoretical exercise.

Students became highly involved in managing their virtual school shops, worked together as teams, and analyzed the results of their decisions. Every round gave them new information to consider and new choices to make.
Through this process, participants practiced behaviors closely connected with entrepreneurship. They had to take responsibility for their decisions, develop ideas, make independent choices, and remain persistent when their original strategy did not produce the expected results.
Competition between teams added motivation, but success depended on more than simply outperforming other participants. Students also had to communicate within their teams, agree on a strategy, plan their next steps, and adapt when circumstances changed.
Most importantly, they experienced an important lesson about running a business: decisions are connected, their consequences are not always immediately predictable, and a good strategy often needs to be adjusted as new information becomes available.

For the Kamienna Góra Commune, the competition showed how a practice-based format can support schools while creating a positive experience around entrepreneurship education for students, teachers, and the wider school community.
